1965 Ferrari 275 GTS
The Ferrari 275 GTS Spider was unveiled at the 1964 Paris Motor Show alongside the 275 GTB, marking the return of an open model after a two-year hiatus following the end of production for the 250 GT California in early 1963. Pininfarina designed the body for the Berlinetta, while Scaglietti manufactured it in Modena. Pininfarina’s Turin factory produced the Spider’s body, which was then delivered to Maranello for assembly of the mechanical components.
The 275 GTS features smoother, more classic lines compared to the Berlinetta, offering a more refined version of a race car for the road. The GTB/GTS chassis share the same 2400mm wheelbase, with the V12 engine producing 260 hp in the GTS, slightly less than the Berlinetta due to different tuning. A 5-speed transmission and a longer rear axle ratio provide better cruising comfort. The 275 GTS Spider is Ferrari's first convertible with a short wheelbase and independent suspension on all four wheels. Only 200 units of the 275 GTS were produced.
